Looks like there's large numbers of fish in the river.
At 1st Pond Bar this morning, 20 fish were hooked with 8 retained. At
Joe Batts Br this morning 2 anglers hooked 10 fish.
The fishway at Salmon Br as of 1pm today had 118 fish pass through..more
than double this time last year. Anglers had an excellent day fishing in
the Appleton/ Glenwood area yesterday. Lets hope this is the banner year we've been waiting for.
I'll be down river on Friday for my own observations (and maybe a little
fishing after work).
Family Fun Fishing Day
WHEN: July 2 - 10am to 4pm WHERE: Gander Bay Boat Basin
As part of National Fishing Week, GRMA will be hosting a Family Fun Fishing Day where we invite anyone who wants to take a ride in a Gander River Boat to fish/tour the "Mighty" Gander River. The only "catch", is that you must bring a kid/youth in order to participate. Life jackets are required. If you have none, a small quantity will be available. Food and beverages will be provided as well as prizes.
First come, first "FISHED".
PLEASE NOTE: THE EVENT ORIGINALLY TO TAKE PLACE IN APPLETON HAS BEEN CANCELED...It will still take place in Gander Bay.
