Riding all the Way to the Bank
{June 15, 2001}

  The Ride for Sight is one year away from celebrating its 20th year in support of The Foundation Fighting Blindness - Canada. The 2001 Ride for Sight marks 19 years of fundraising in support of the Foundation. The annual event is the largest fundraising event in Canada when it comes to eye research.

  The event has had much success over the years, and this year should prove just as rewarding. Plans are underway for what has turned into the largest motorcycling event in Newfoundland. Motorcyclists will meet in Gander during the weekend of June 29th - July 1st, 2001. From here, hundreds of motorcyclists will participate in driving across the province.

  The ride is fun for those who take part, and at the same time a great deal of money will be raised for a great cause. While this is a Canadian event, Newfoundland in particular has proved themselves to be quite generous. Our province has raised more money, per capita, than any other participating province in the country. In an effort to help fight blindness our riders have contributed over $73,000.

  Congratulations to all those who help make this possible, and as always, a warm thank you to the kind volunteer committee who represent many different motorcycle organizations across the province.
